Frequently Asked Questions
Here's where we lay out answers to some of the questions we get asked all the time. If we don't answer it here, please feel free to contact us anytime for more information. We always like to talk guitars!
How much does a ECGW guitar cost?
We knew you'd ask - please see our pricing page for standard model pricing, and a handy list of available upgrades, options, and substitutions.
How do I order a ECGW guitar?
Our instruments are very personal items, and every one is unique. Our first priority is making sure we understand your needs and requirements as a player. Usually, we'll need to start with a simple conversation. Just drop us a line; we'll help you create an instrument that looks the way you like, and more importantly, plays like the instrument you deserve.
What's your turnaround time on a guitar?
We craft your guitar from scratch - this means no pre-cut necks or bodies. While this approach takes some time, we believe it yields the very best results. Average turnaround time from the point of order is 3-5 months, depending on the volume of orders in front of yours.
Can I buy the guitars you have pictured in your gallery?
We're glad you like our work, but unfortunately those particular guitars are not for sale. The gallery showcases previously built guitars for our awesome customers, but you can feel free to draw inspiration from them to apply to your order!
Where do you source your wood?
The majority of our wood selection is reclaimed urban wood that lived right here in the Chippewa Valley.
Why do you use Dawgtown Pickups?
John Galep from Dawgtown Pickups Custom Shop has been a well-kept secret in the industry for decades, winding thousands of custom pickups for both world-class players and hobbyists alike. He is uniquely knowledgeable in the art of electric guitar pickup winding, and can design and build a pickup that is tailored to the types of tones you prefer. He is very particular about magnets, wire, and other components to make sure the tone you get out of your new ECGW guitar is the tone you want. We've found that his pickups sound superb in our instruments. Plus, he's local - a Menomonee, Wisconsin native!
Can I use pickups from other manufacturers?
While we highly recommend Dawgtown Pickups, the world is full of wonderful pickup-makers. Yes, we can certainly use models from the pickup-maker of your choosing. Simply contact us for more details and pricing changes.
Do you use proprietary hardware of any kind?
Absolutely not - our guitars are designed to be easily serviceable in the future. You can replace pickups, pickguards, bridges, tuners, saddles, and other things without hassle, if you so choose.
What is your 'Confluence Headstock' all about?
Our unique, signature walnut and cherry headstock design represents the two rivers (The Eau Claire & Chippewa Rivers) that converge in the heart of Eau Claire.
Can you make me a custom body design?
While we'd love to say yes, at this point we are not setup to create one-off custom body designs (other than adding contours and custom features to our existing body designs). As creators of musical instruments, however, we're constantly thinking about (and experimenting with) new body styles, so be sure to stay tuned!
Do you make electric basses?
Yes! We've completed a short-scale Confluence T bass recently for one of our awesome customers. Check it out in the gallery!
