It all started with an idea, a short bike ride, and some condemned trees - way back in 2015.
A mutual friend was looking for wood for a guitar body, and artisan woodworker Tim Brudnicki (Eau Claire Woodworks, TreePurpose of Eau Claire) was happy to oblige, as recent events had resulted in a surplus of locally harvested ash.
Being a lifelong professional woodworker, Tim knew how to design and cut the body, but needed someone with an expansive knowledge of the finer details of crafting a musical instrument. Enter master luthier Gordy Bischoff (Bischoff Guitars).
With over 40 years experience repairing and building guitars of his own, Gordy was able to offer extensive knowledge regarding guitar setup and design. A partnership was born.
It was decided early on that all instruments would be created from scratch - no pre-fab bodies or necks, with every wood component crafted in-house.
After the first prototype run, the duo refined their initial design, and found an outstanding local pickup builder to round out and solidify their guitar offerings.
The result? Eau Claire Guitar Works; a partnership company that specializes in the creation of world-class electric guitars, crafted from reclaimed urban woods.
